Job Description We invite applications from highly motivated and suitably qualified Health Safety & Environment Officer for employment in the service department of the company. Duty Post:  Newmont - Akyem Objective: Develop and lead Safety & Environmental Policies for Newmont-Akyem MARC in line with the Mantrac Group's Safety Vision & Worldwide practices. Drive towards 100% Compliance with Client's Safety and Environmental requirements. Main Duties and Responsibilities: Duties & Responsibilities: Ensure health and safety is considered as first priority within MARC Organization, develop, monitor and continuously improve Safety & Environmental Policy Procedure documents for MARC Operations Ensure Company & Customer safety, safe work practices are strictly adhered, to reduce lost time incidents to less than the dealership goals Strive towards completion of comprehensive Safe Work/Operating Procedures for MARC Operations & Audit use of Safe Working Procedures Implement and tutor the usage of the 'Take 5' Handbook Carry out/delegate Risk Assessments to be carried out in each work area consistently Investigate, lead and complete all accident investigations within 24hrs of incident Supervise procedures for managing hazardous substances and the disposal of chemicals & contaminants Maintain a diary of all HSE legislation Attend and actively participate in all Safety and Environmental related customer meetings Appoint Safety Representatives to provide safety coverage during times off duty Provide detailed reports to customer regarding incidents, risks, safety performance, assessments and meeting minutes, ensuring issues are presented with corrective actions Ensure all MARC staff attend and complete all necessary customer safety induction and courses & and all safety meetings and briefings, ensuring content is relevant and the correct message is delivered Ensure awareness of safety and environmental issues is prevalent through visual posters and aids, continuous monitoring, discussions, briefings, training, simulations and workshops Mediate between managers and operations to limit or eliminate conflict between production and safety considerations Ensure First Aid compliance amongst the workforce covers all areas of the MARC, i.e. 30% of Workforce comparable with OHSAS 18001 certification Required Skills or Experience Skills & Competencies: Excellent interpersonal customer liaison & communication skills Total Commitment to Safety and Quality Assurance procedures Excellent knowledge of MS Office Suite Applications Demonstrate high sense of integrity & high level of creativity resilience and a strong drive to achieve results Must have sound understanding of National & Global HSE legislation BSc Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Renewable Natural Resources, Environmental Sciences A minimum of three (3) years experience job related experience Trained to a minimum of general HSE (Mandatory) Membership of the relevant professional body (desirable0 How To Apply Interested persons should mail their applications and CVs with full address including the quickest means of contact to the address below: The Human Resources Manager Mantrac Ghana Ltd P.
