We are located in a tropical climate; the Damang Gold Mine is a world-class operation, consisting of 25 Mtpa open pit-mining operations and a 5.2 Mtpa CIL metallurgical plant. The mine is situated in the Western Region of Ghana and is ISO 14001 and OHSAS18001 certificated. It has a current Life of Mine expectancy to the year 2019 and beyond. JOB SUMMARY Company: Gold Fields Industry: Mining Category: Engineering Location: Tarkwa Job Status: Full-time Salary: GH¢  Education: Tertiary Experience: 8 years Job Expires: 12 Jun, 2012 Job Description Purpose of the Job: You will be a competent, experienced and self motivated individual who will be responsible for ensuring the effective management of CAT Fleet, Heavy Mining and Equipment (HME) and engineering systems, processes, and resources under controlled operational cost and safe conditions, for high equipment availability and performance, increased productivity, equipment reliability and operational profitability. Key Responsibilities: Enhancement and implementation of SAP in the HME area of responsibility Interact with operational personnel to optimize equipment performance Day-to-day management of the HME planning section Calculate Key Performance Indicators and managing improvement programs Short and long term planning of the HME department in SAP WIP Management, HME Budget, HME Capital Budget and HME Labour Budget Effective planning of HME consignment stock and parts/material requirement Develop and implement cost saving initiatives Ensure effective development of departmental staff in preparation for more challenging positions Ensure that effective engineering standards and procedures are developed and implemented in compliance with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 requirements Required Skills or Experience A tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering from a recognised institution A minimum of at least 8 years HME Maintenance Systems and planning experience of which 5 years should be in an equivalent position, managing a planning department of Heavy Mining Equipment Abreast with SAP and its applications or relevant experience in the PM system mainly for HME Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suit Experience in compiling and analyzing budgets Sound business acumen and the ability to influence the main cost drivers in this environment Results-oriented to achieve production targets whilst ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and standards Well developed oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with people of diverse cultures and levels Self driven with the ability to meet deadlines handle stress and solve technical problems Exposure to environmental awareness programs Medical fitness for the position and environment Valid Ghanaian driver's license and proficiency in driving light vehicles It would be advantageous if applicants have: Experience in management of Maintenance and Repair Contracts Project planning and management experience (understanding KPI's) 6 Sigma experience/training Machine trouble shooting capability Relevant technical qualification in planning or engineering Experience in reliability Engineering of HME An attractive package is available to the right applicant How To Apply Interested persons should submit their Curriculum Vitae to: Daniel W.
