JOB SUMMARY Company Newmont Ghana Gold Industry Mining Category Information Location Akyem or Ahafo Job Status Full-time Salary GH¢  Education Bachelor̵ Experience 5 years Job Expires 16 Jun, 2012 Job Description PURPOSE: Primary area of responsibility is the interpretation and 3D modeling of geological and mineralization settings of gold deposits using Enterprise class software tools such as Minesight, Vulcan, Leapfrog, ArcGis. Will Assist in providing in-house modeling training and support. Provide Technical support and leadership of projects in the mining, development or exploration programs with the goal of improving project viability and discovering new economic gold ounces to extend mine life. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Become familiar with and strictly adhere to Newmont's Health, Safety and Environmental standards. Act as a role model in complying with and supporting these standards and practices. Verification and validation of critical Exploration datasets used for 3D modeling. Analysis of QA_QC data. Regular reviews of QA_QC data and procedures. Identify infill drilling areas and assist in planning and designing of drilling campaigns. Interpretation and 3D solid modeling of gold deposits including mineralization, lithological and structural modeling. Updating existing geologic models. Work closely with field and office based geoscientists. Manage relations to ensure that Exploration information is well maintained and delivered. Serve as a role model for company leadership behaviors. Provide exploration software training to the exploration team as and when needed. WORKING CONDITIONS: Will work in mines, project sites, and/or Greenfield exploration environments where conditions may be primitive and/or harsh at times. Position requires interaction with exploration, mine geology and mining engineering groups and will necessitate spending time in the field Position will be site based (either Akyem or Ahafo). Required Skills or Experience Bachelor of Science degree in Geological Engineering or Geology is mandate. Minimum of 5 years' experience in exploration, development of mining geology with understanding of geologic modeling is a mandated. Competent in using at least one mining software and 3D geologic modeling tools in Minesight3D or Vulcan. Advanced level written and spoken English. Able to communicate information to others including other departments. Computer skills in MS office Suit and MS Windows. Multiple skills set in exploration and mining software and computer programming is an added advantage. Supervisory experience and ability to work successfully in a team environment Good presentation skills.
