Chemonics International Inc seeks a Senior and Mid Level Education Specialists for an anticipated four-year USAID-funded program. For more than 36 years, Chemonics International, a U.S.-based international development consulting firm, has partnered with local and international organizations to promote social and economic change in Africa and around the world.  Our work began in West Africa in 1976 in Cameroon, where we improved rice production and in 1977 in Mali where we revived a drought-depleted livestock sector.  Since then, we have expanded our expertise to address a diverse range of challenges in education reform, conflict mitigation and management, decentralization, rule of law, anticorruption, private sector development, trade, agriculture, health, and nutrition. JOB SUMMARY Company: Chemonics International Industry: NGO Category: Education/Training Location: Accra Job Status: Full-time Salary: GH¢  Education: Advanced Degree Experience: 5 years Job Expires: 15 Jul, 2012 Job Description The project will support improving reading and numeracy instruction, teacher training for early age children, education management, and material development in English and mother tongue languages.  The long- or short-term assignments involve the following technical areas: Reading and numeracy material development at the basic education level Mother-tongue language instruction Community outreach and engagement to promote basic education Organizational development Reading and/or numeracy instruction and policy development for basic education Teacher education (pre-service and in-service) Education leadership and management Education monitoring and evaluation Education policy research Project outreach and communications Other education-related areas, including gender, information technology, capacity-building, and private-public partnerships. Required Skills or Experience Masters degree in education or relevant specialty area preferred or equivalent combination of education and work experience in education-related field; Demonstrated relevant experience in basic education (minimum 5 years); Knowledge of the Ghana education system; Experience on USAID or other donor-funded programs preferred and experience working with nongovernmental organizations, national and local governments, and the private sector required; Outstanding leadership, management, and interpersonal skills; Ability to conceptualize and lead technical tasks;  Fluency in English required.
