Perseus Mining seeks Drill & Blast Engineer. We are a duet listed (Australia, Toronto) gold miner and explorer focused on the West African region. Perseus Mining (Ghana) Limited (PMGL) has recently commissioned the world-class Edikan gold project in the Western Region of Ghana. Edikan Gold Mine (EGM) has a current mining reserve of 3.3M oz of gold from a resource base of 4.3M oz. The Edikan processing facility has been designed as a 5.5Mtpa processing facility with the ability to expand this to 8Mtpa in the future. The plant is capable of producing at a rate of 220-270,000oz gold. JOB SUMMARY Company: Perseus Mining Ghana Industry: Mining Category: Engineering Location: Ayanfuri Job Status: Full-time Salary: GH¢  Education: University degree Experience: 3 years Job Expires: 31 Jul, 2012 Job Description The Drill and Blast Engineer will report to the Mine Superintendent and be responsible for the coordination of all drill and blast activities of the Mining Department at Perseus (Ghana) Limited, Edikan Gold Mine near Ayanfuri. The responsibilities for the position include but are not limited to:- Provide leadership in safety involving explosives and Dangerous Goods; Ensure safety inspection and audits of Drill and Blast works/activities in pit are adhered to; Liaise with Production Engineers to ensure drill and blast activities are integral part of planning and scheduling; Provide input into daily, weekly and monthly operational meetings to optimize drill and blast activities; Collate drill and blast data and analyse for each blast; Prepare Blast Master Design and review; Review and approve Drill and Blast design proposals from Mining Contractor; Conduct regular field visits and blast operational sites to ensure high quality standards are maintained, plans are implemented and recommend opportunities for improvement; and Prepare and report on Drill and Blast progress against targets The position is site based and the Company offers a competitive remuneration package commensurate with the candidates' qualification and experience Required Skills or Experience The successful applicant must possess Degree in Mining Engineering or its equivalent, Certificates of Competency at least 5 years recent experience in open pit operations with at least 3 years in Drill and Blast operations How To Apply Interested applicants should submit a cover letter, detailed CV of his/her qualifications, work history and the names of at least 3 referees in MSWord document.
