Main Purpose: To plan, direct and co-ordinate sound environmental management at the mine site to ensure the mine complies with legal requirements and AGA policies and standards. Job Objectives: To establish and implement environmental processes in conformance with corporate and company standards, as well as national legislation and other requirements for sustained regulatory compliance To identify major environmental risks or aspects for the mine and prescribe programmes to manage them through environmental monitoring and data interpretation  To meet the organisation's environmental policy objectives through continuous environmental risk assessments, audits and mitigation To minimize the organisation's closure liabilities by developing and periodically reviewing proactive rehabilitation and close plans as well as the associated liability estimates for the mine To manage environmental staff, including overseeing training and development programmes, and to implement the company's localisation strategy To minimize the organisation's environmental exposure and to ensure effective environmental performance by developing, implementing and evaluating a sound environmental management system, compliant with ISO 14001 requirements To prevent recurrence of dangerous events through timely reporting and investigation of environmental incidents and non-conformance's, followed by the implementation of corrective actions To achieve high overall environmental performance by enhancing environmental awareness among the organisation's staff at all levels as well as those of contractors through ongoing education and continuously establishing active participation of employees, contractors and stakeholders in the proper care of the environment To preserve the organisation's image through timely provision of information and advice on potentially damaging environmental issues and practices to top management To conserve financial resources through effective cost management of environmental activities and projects for the promotion of sustainable development  Required Skills or Experience Job Specific Requirement Job Knowledge: Environmental and Mining Engineering Environmental Geology-Science & Engineering Chemical, tailing and waste management Knowledge of international best practice in mine environmental management and environmental dynamics of land, water and air systems Knowledge and implementation of relevant safety standards (e.g. ISO 14001) Knowledge of local environmental legislation Knowledge of mine closure cost estimation and planning for closure Computer literacy, at least MS Office (Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, etc) Job Related Skills: Environmental audit, planning & management skills Skills for developing and implementing quality guidelines, standards and policies Risk and resource management skills Project management Management and motivation skills Analytical skills Excellent written and oral communication and report writing skills Good interpersonal and multilanguage skills Minimum of 10 years post qualification technical work exposure in the mining industry Post-graduate environmental qualification (preferably Master's Degree) Professionally qualified and registered with a recognised professional body/institute How To Apply Interested persons are to forward their applications which should include: Cover letter describing the applicant's interest in the position Resume (CV) detailing relevant experience, skills and education Contact information for three professional references To the following address: The Manager: Human Resource Manager AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited Gold House P.
